Lot Essay

Robert Daws is recorded at 17 Margaret Street, Cavendish Square, 1820-1839. He patented the 'Improved Recumbent Chair' in 1827, presumably this or a very similar design.

The rich Grecian-scrolled arms of this chair relate to chairs in the antique style illustrated in T. King's Modern Style Exemplified, 1929
