A Meissen Kakiemon pomade-pot and a Chantilly cover
Circa 1735, blue crossed swords mark, the cover later, the mounts with décharge of Louis Robin, Paris, 1738-44
Of slightly tapering cylindrical form, painted and gilded with grasses and peonies issuing from rockwork, the cover with grasses, birds in flight and Oriental boys at leisure (restored crack from rim to base on one side, cover broken and restuck)

Lot Essay

It is interesting to note that the cover and mounts were made shortly after the arrival of the Meissen pomade-pot in Paris.
