Lot Essay

The Hon. Sarah Mary Cavendish (1813-1881) was the daughter of the Hon. Henry F. Compton-Cavendish. She married John Campbell Vaughan, 2nd Earl of Cawdor in 1842. She was a maid of honour to Queen Victoria.

Antonin Boullemier (Metz 1840-Stoke 1900) came to England in 1872 and settled in Stoke where he worked mainly for Minton until he set up his own factory. His work was greatly admired in America.
