A GEORGE IV GOLD MOURNING-BAND, the broad sides inscribed in gothic letters 'In Memory of' between black enamel bands and chased flower and foliage rims, engraved around the interior 'William Wilshire Esq. ob. 2 Sep. 1824 aet. 69', London 1824, maker's initials RM, possibly for Rebecca Merfield (see A.G. Grimwade London Goldsmiths 1697-1837 [1976] no. 2370), and a Victorian gold mourning-ring with octagonal amethyst bezel, the hoop enamelled in black letters 'F.P.D.R. Novr. 30th 1875' (2)
