INDENTEnamelling of this type, with embossed decoration taken from medallic sources, is associated with Christian Friedrich Herold and Conrad Hunger. Herold was a Huguenot who is believed to have worked for the Fromery family in Berlin before moving to the Meissen factory. The same gold-encrusted decoration was also used in France particularly on St. Cloud porcelain. See A. Somers Cocks, C.Truman, The Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection (1984) no.91 and Sotheby's, 4 July, 1989, lot 516 for an enamel snuff-box signed 'Alex Fromery a Berlin'
