Lot Essay

The engraver, Hyppolite Corombelle, with his daughter Lyson, are arguably the most important Belgian engravers of the first half of the 20th Century. The work on this example bears a close resemblance to one engraved in the Renaissance style for the 1930 International Liège Fair. The gun itself bears a close resemblance to the Holland & Holland 'Royal' guns of the period
