A PAIR OF CHELSEA SWEETMEAT-FIGURES modelled as a lady holding a fan and a gentleman, their clothes elaborately painted and enriched in gilding, standing holding open the lids of oval baskets supported on rockwork encrusted with flowers, she with a pug and he with a hound seated erect at their feet, the pierced shaped scroll-moulded bases applied with flowers and enriched in gilding (she with one handle of basket lacking, he with neck and left hand repaired, both handles of his basket lacking, both with minor chips to extremities and to flowers and foliage), gold anchor marks, circa 1760
