A VERY FINE NISHAPUR DISH with small centre and broad shallow sloping rim, the central roundel painted in black and with red slip in the form of a roundel issuing four scrolling tendrils with trefoil terminals, the interstices filled with red shaped panels, the rim with a fine highly stylised knotted kufic inscription with red details in each quarter, the exterior plain white, 10th century (repaired, small areas of repainting, varnished)
