Lot Essay

The relatively early date during the Qajar period for this qur'an binding is attested by the similarity in the floral decoration of the gold glitter ground to the Zand cover also in the sale, lot 182. It also continues the earlier concept of having a border of strong inscription panels, similar to covers by Ahmad al-Neirizi dating from a hundred years earlier, an example of which is on the qur'an in lot ???.
