Five six-line initials in gold leaf and colours, first leaf with painted border of twisted floral and scroll motifs in gilt, mauve and green on dark blue and gilt stippled ground on inner, upper and lower margins (somewhat smudged, lower margin trimmed not affecting border, slightly browned, waterstain in upper margin affects text on 12 leaves). 18th-century Italian mottled sheep (spine somewhat wormed). Provenance: early partial title on first leaf; end-paper inscribed 'Musei A. Cristofori Med. et Chir. mant. 1836'. Hain 1559; GKW 5601; BMC V, 170; Goff B-1235.
