2° (394 x 266mm.). Engraved title vignette, two head-pieces, seven plates and two illustrations (paper-fault with small hole resulting in Pp2). CONTEMPORARY RED MOROCCO GILT BY ROGER BARTLETT OF OXFORD, covers panelled with a double-fillet outer border, enclosing three panels described successively by a thin floral roll, a single fillet and a thick floral roll, each with floral tools at the corners, seven compartment spine with raised bands, one decorated and lettered, the others with overall tooling to two alternating designs made up from repeated floral rolls, g.e. (joints split, spine chipped). Provenance: Thomas Eyre (bookplate).
FIRST EDITION. One of the copies printed on a Royal paper stock watermarked with a fleur-de-lys in a shield. This copy is listed (no.10B) in H.M.Nixon's "Roger Bartlett's Bookbindings." The Library, March 1962, pp.56-65. Wing S-4934; Madan 3197.
