2° (369 x 260mm.). PRINTED ON VELLUM. Engraved title and 2 plates, double-page letterpress type-specimen sheet with gold-leaf and ink-ruled border. Original blue straight-grained morocco, finely tooled in gilt and blind, covers with centrally placed gilt stamp of Oxford University, gilt turn-ins, g.e., mid-19th-century kid-lined box (modelled as a book) tooled in gilt and blind, the 'covers' with inset earlier russia panels. Provenance: Radcliffe Library (bookplate with Bodleian Library duplicate sale stamp).

FIRST EDITION. ONE OF 12 COPIES ON VELLUM, PRINTED AND BOUND FOR PRESENTATION. The recipients were the Prince Regent, the Emperor of Russia, the King of Prussia, the King of France, the Prince of Orange, the Duchess of Oldenburg, the British Library, the King's Private Library, the Public Library at Cambridge, the Chancellor of Oxford University, the Bodleian and the Radcliffe Library. The finishing is of particularly fine quality, but we have been unable to identify the binder.
