INDENTThe Military Farms Department formed part of the supply service of the Indian Army under the control of the Quartermaster General. It originated as a branch of the Commissariat Department in 1884, and became a separate department in 1912. Both Grass Farms and Dairy Farms were maintained, primarily directed to ensure an adequate supply of fodder for Army Animals and pure dairy products for Military personnel
