INDENTSecond Lieutenant Rowland Townshend Cobbold of Bramford, Ipswich, returned from the Argentine on the outbreak of war, volunteered for active service and was commissioned in April 1915. Second Lieutenant Cobbold was killed in action on the first day of the Battle of Loos 25 September 1915 and is buried in Brandhoek Military Cemetery, Belgium

Captain Charles Townsend Holland of Snodland, Rochester, born 1882, entered the Royal Military Academy and joined the Royal Field Artillery at the time of the South African War; retired from the Active List 1908 and joined the Reserve of Officers, August 1914; was appointed Orderly Officer 33rd Brigade, 8th Division, R.F.A. Captain Holland was shot through the heart and chest and killed instantaneously in the Battle of Auber's Ridge 9th May 1915 - Acting at that time as Liaison Officer with the 25th Light Infantry Brigade he had volunteered to go with the General Commanding the Infantry Brigade to report on the progress of the attack - they were both killed, probably by machine-gun fire
