INDENT Lieutenant Geoffrey Thomas Lorick Ellwood born 1892, Oakham, Rutland, educated at Cheam and Marlborough and was an undergraduate at Magdalen College, Oxford. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant 6th Leicesters 26 August, 1914, proceeded to France 31 July, 1915 and was advanced to Lieutenant in September; he was severely wounded in the shoulder and back whilst employed at night with a wiring party, invalided to England and returned to France 18 April, 1916. During the Somme offensive he was killed by a rifle bullet leading his men in an attack upon Bazentin le Petit village and wood 14 July, 1916 - he is commemorated on Thiepval Memorial
