INDENT Second Lieutenant Stephen de Thierry Williamson, educated at Fettes College, Edinburgh and Brasenose College, Oxford was commissioned into the Scottish Rifles on the outbreak of war - went to the Front February 1915 and was killed in action 10 March, the first day of the Battle of Neuve Chapelle. Lieutenant Williamson's great-grandfather joined the British Forces at the age of eighteen, exactly one hundred years previously, and carried the despatches to Wellington at the Duchess of Richmond's Ball on the eve of Waterloo (The Bond of Sacrifice, Vol. II refers)
