INDENTPrivate Leonard Blanks, a Defender of Kut, died on the day the fortified town was surrendered to the Turks 30 April 1916 - he is commemorated on the Basra Memorial.
Second Lieutenant Kenneth Sherrif, born at Helensburgh Dunbartonshire, educated at Rugby School, was commissioned in the 3rd Royal West Kents and went to France with the 2nd Bn. Border Regiment 29 May 1915. He was hit by a sniper in the trenches between Festubert and La Bassee 19 June and died from his wounds on the 23rd. Lieutenant Sheriff was buried in Boulogne Eastern Cemetery, France.
Second Lieutenant Kynnersley Blew of Buckhurst Hill, Essex, educated at Clifton College and Pembroke College, Cambridge, returned from New Zealand for active service - he was killed in action France 12 April 1918 and is commemorated on the Pozières Memorial.
