INDENT Second Lieutenant Launcelot Russell Gubbins, born at Lima, Peru, educated Rugby School, enlisted in the New Zealand Field Artillery, 12 September 1914, and arrived in Egypt in December; landed at Gaba Tepe, Gallipoli, April 1915, was wounded at Achi Baba in July, invalided to Malta, and returned to Gallipoli in September, where he remained until the evacuation; proceeded to France, promoted Sergeant, and was commissioned Second Lieutenant March 1918. Lieutenant Gubbins was killed in action, near Mount Scherpenberg, Flanders, on the night of 23 April 1918, and is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium
