Lot Essay

INDENT The Slavo British Allied Legion was formed by Major General Poole, July 1918, and numbered approximately 500 men, all of whom were volunteers; the Legion saw action in January 1919, and gained its Colours in July. After several mutinies, instigated by Bolshevik agents, the Legion was disbanded 15 October 1919, and a free passage to England was granted to all loyal S.B.L. veterans. Mr. Grihwe's medals were issued via the Foreign Office, 21 February 1924
