INDENTCaptain Cecil Gerald Wyatt Peake, born 1891, educated at Ayrsgarth School, Charterhouse and Trinity Hall, Cambridge, was gazetted 2nd Lieutenant, Lincolnshire Regiment, 1912, advanced to Lieutenant, 1913 and Captain December 1914; served in France from 8 November, 1914 and was killed in action on the first day of the Battle of Neuve Chapelle 10 March 1915.
Captain Peake with his blocking party was among the first of the Lincolnshires to enter the German trenches and "...having ordered a German officer who had surrendered to take off his equipment, turned his face for a moment...the German...fired twice with his revolver...killing him (British Roll of Honour and Ruvigny's Roll of Honour refers)
Lieutenant Kenneth John Wyatt Peake, born 1893, he followed his brothers to Charterhourse and later his eldest brother to Oriel College Oxford...stroked a boat for the College fours...and in May 1914 stroked the College boat in the University races; he joined Oxford University O.T.C. and before the end of August 1914 was commissioned into the 6th Lincolns - he proceeded to Gallipoli 1 July 1915. Lieutenant Peake was reported wounded and missing 9 August 1915 and was later confirmed as being killed in action on that date - is commemorated on the Cape Helles Memorial.
Captain Henry Arthur Wyatt Peake, born 1890, educated at Charterhouse and Oriel College, Oxford and rowed in the College boat; he joined the Inns of Court O.T.C. August 1914 and was commissioned two weeks later in the Essex Regiment; proceeded to France December 1914 and was wounded 9 June the following year. Captain Peake was reported missing 3 July 1916 the third day of the great Somme offensive - he was later confirmed as being killed in action on that date.
