INDENTSecond Lieutenant Edward Hunter Thurtell Woods, educated Ipswich Grammar School, joined the Suffolk Yeomanry as a Despatch Rider, 1 December 1914; commissioned with the 4th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment, 4 August 1915 and proceeded to France in May 1916; he was killed in action at Bazentin-le-Petit, during the assault on High Wood at the Battle of the Somme, 15 July 1916.

Second Lieutenant Harold Wallace Woods, brother of E.H.T.Woods, also served with the 4th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment and was killed in action at the Battle of the Scarp, 23 April 1917 (Regimental History pp.226-7 refers).
