INDENTLieutenant Colonel Arthur George Edward Egerton, born 1879, eldest son of Colonel Sir Alfred Egerton, K.C.V.O., C.B., served in the South African War 1899-1902, went to France with his Regiment September 1914 and was severely wounded during the Battle of the Aisne on the 19th of that month (Mentioned in Despatches); Lieutenant Colonel Egerton Commanding 1st Bn. Coldstream Guards was killed in action at Loos 29 September 1915 (Ruvigny's Roll of Honour Vol II refers).
Major Ronald Anthony Markham, born 1870, Melton Mowbray, previously employed with the Egyptian Army was second in command of the 2nd Bn Coldstream Guards when he was shot through the head by a spent bullet at St. Julien 25 October 1914 and died the following day in Boulogne.
Captain Goerge Ronald Lane, born 1894, only son of Major General Bertram Lane, K.C.B., K.C.V.O., was Page of Honour to Edward VII February 1907 to August 1910; proceeded to France with the 1st Bn Coldstream Guards in 1914, was wounded and invalided home; returned to Franch and was killed in action at Ginchy 16 September 1916 and is buried in the Guards Cemetery at Les Boeufs France.
Lieutenant Clement Cottrel-Dormer, born 1891, was commissioned in the Oxfordshire Hussars May 1910 and was gazetted to the Scots Guards on probation 1911 and carried the Colours in the Coronation Procession 1911; Gazetted to the Scots Guards February 1913, advanced to Lieutenant 23 October 1914 - he was killed three days later when he was struck by a shell while defending his trench at Kruseik, near Ypres.
Second Lieutenant Thomas Allen was killed in action near La Bassee 25 February 1915 - he had joined the 1st Battalion, Irish Guards at the Front as a replacement officer on the 8th February.
3070 Private Arthur Sharples, born Rishton Lancashire, was killed in action at St Leger France and was buried in Vis-En-Artois Cemetery.
