INDENTMajor Arthur Radclyffe Dugmore, born 1870 in Wales, a well known Ornithologist, Artist and Travel Writer, acted as War Correspondent and photographer in Belgium August and September 1914 - was taken prisoner in August, then released; served in France 1916 - gassed in the Battle of the Somme July 1916; advanced to Major, he spent the rest of the war lecturing, mainly in the U.S.A.

Second Lieutenant John Curzon Jackson-Taylor was killed in action on the first day of the German March Offensive 21 March 1918.

Second Lieutenant Herbert Stanley Mottershall, born 1890 in Nottingham; gazetted to the Manchester Regiment July 1917, proceeded to Belgium 29 August 1917 and died of wounds received on the same day at Passchendaele 9 October 1917.

Major Esme Hal Fenning was killed in action at Gallipoli 6 August 1915 and is commemorated on the Cape Helles Memorial.

Lieutenant Vernon Forster Stewart originally commissioned in the Durham Light Infantry, transferred to the Royal Flying Corps May 1916, received his pilot's wings within two months and took part in the aerial defence of London - serving with Lieutenant Leefe Robinson V.C.; he returned to France September 1916, was killed in action near Vimy Ridge 13 May 1917 and was buried in the British Military Cemetery at Bruay.

Lieutenant Robert Duncan Mearns MacPherson, born 1885 resigned his commission in the R.A.M.C. and was gazetted to the Seaforth Highlanders as a combatant December 1914; he was killed on the first day of the Battle of Loos 25 September 1915 during an attack on the Hohenzollern Redoubt by the 26th Brigade led by the 7th Seaforths wearing their 'diced' glengarries.

Lieutenant MacPherson had held the Scottish Universities' hammer throwing record.
