INDENTD.C.M. London Gazette 16.5.1916. Serjeant 'C' Bty., 174th Brigade R.F.A. "For conspicuous gallantry in rescuing a wounded comrade under heavy and accurate shell fire".

Bar to D.C.M. London Gazette 25.8.1917. Battery Serjeant Major, R.F.A. "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He displayed the utmost coolness in getting several teams away during heavy shelling, also assisting his officer to extinguish a fire in a gunpit with utter disregard of personal danger"
