INDENTM.M. London Gazette 17.1.1946. The Recommendation states, "Throughout the period 15-2-45 -- 3-4-45 Mohindar Singh in all attacks was to be found in the forefront of the battle leading the front wave of his coy. in the attack and showing a total disregard for danger. On many occasions his bravery was of the highest order and on 3-4-45 in the attack on Zidaw village when he once again led the attack with great gallantry. The leading ranks had penetrated 50 yards into the village when they came under heavy Jap. automatic fire, wounding amongst others the platoon commander who fell in the open. A N.C.O. went out to get the platoon commander but was killed as soon as he got to him. A Sepoy followed but was severely wounded. Sepoy Mohindar Singh having witnessed both these attempts immediately went out himself and succeded in reaching the V.C.O. He lifted him up and under heavy enemy automatic fire commenced to carry him but had gone only ten yards when a further burst of enemy fire killed the platoon commander and severely wounded Mohindar Singh. His bravery was always an inspiration and an example to all ranks of his coy."
