Monmouth of Liverpool bore down on the Evelyn and launched a lifeboat, which under the command of Mr. Russell and manned by seven men including John Hull proceeded to the Evelyn and succeeded with great difficulty in taking off the Master, Mate, and remaining seamen, the Evelyn being abandoned in a sinking condition
