A FINE TRANSYLVANIAN DOUBLE-NICHE RUG, the shaded brick-red field loosely scattered with stylised floral motifs and palmettes, the angular stepped blue mihrab arches with flowerheads and serrated leaves, in a brick-red border of ivory cartouches containig turtle- palmettes and flowering vine divided by alternating blue and green stellar panels between reciprocal and plain stripes, a blue kilim strip at each end, 17th century (very small repairs, slight moth damage, corroded black, otherwise full pile)
