Lot Essay

The guns were completed circa 1900 and Purdey records confirm their entry in the 1900 Paris Exposition. The work of embellishing the guns was almost certainly carried out by Barré, a French engraver working with Purdey's at this time. His work is clearly identifiable by the jewelled quality of the carving

The lot is subject to V.A.T. as a re-import
