This is a replica of the celebrated Versailles lantern, illustrated in H. Harvard, Dictionnaire de l'Ameublement et de la Decoration, Paris, circa 1893, Vol. 3, pl. 15.

An identical lantern was sold at Sotheby's, New York, The Keck Collection, 4th December 1991, lot 190.
