A GEORGE JONES MAJOLICA SWEETMEAT-DISH WITH TWO FAUN VINTNER SUPPORTERS, both with wreaths of fruiting vine adorning their hair, one standing wearing a lion-pelt around his thighs, a tambourine at his feet, the other kneeling holding a bunch of grapes suspending vine- branches moulded in relief beneath the dish, a ribbon-tied staff and pan-pipes at his feet, on a grassy oval base moulded with roots (crack to handle of dish and to one leg of each faun, slight cracks to bottom of pelt and root, glaze chips to rim of dish, slight glaze cracks), pattern number 2282, circa 1870
