Half-titles, wood-engraved titles, engraved dedications (spotted), 104 hand-coloured aquatint plates by Bluck, Stadler and others after Thomas Rowlandson and Pugin (some offsetting of plates onto text). Later light brown calf gilt by Bickers & Son (spines somewhat scuffed, joints rubbed and occasionally slightly split). Provenance: The Earl St.Germans (armorial bookplate).
FIRST EDITION. Early issue bound from the parts, with all errata but one uncorrected and at least seven of the twelve possible plates in their first state (including the rare first state of plate 39 in vol.II). Abbey Scenery 212; Tooley 7. (3)
