Engraved title, preface leaf, index on 4 double-page plates, double-page general plans of modern and ancient Rome engraved by Piranesi and Carlo Nolli, the large plan of modern Rome on 12 double-page sheets engraved by Rocco Pozzi, Pietro Campano di Soriano, Carlo Nolli and Giovanni Battista Piranesi, the plan set in a decorative frame-style border with the arms of the principal families of the city, the lower border with a large decorative dedicatory cartouche with the ancient ruins of the Forum to the left, and the modern construction of the by Pope Clement XII to the right (some light damp staining affecting upper margins and lower corner, occasional light spotting, title and preface detached). Contemporary half calf (worn, lower cover detached).

FIRST EDITION of Nolli's fine plan of Rome. Frutaz 169; Hind p.78 discusses Piranesi's engraving of the double-page plan of modern Rome (numbered 33/34).
