Lot Essay

The view of Westminster dates from circa 1720 before the Towers were added to Westminster Abbey. Duke Humphrey's Tower, Greenwich was demolished early in 1675 to make way for the foundation work of the Observatory, which began in August 1675. The viewpoint of the drawing obscures the Queen's House
