A George III green lacquer longcase clock, the case on plinth with later skirting, with chinoiserie decoration to the moldings and sides, the arched trunk door overlaid with prints of a gentleman and lady picking apples and an amorous couple in a landscape, the hood with gilt-wood capped ¾-columns supporting the arched top surmounted by ball-and-eagle finials, the silvered engraved dial signed George Jeffreys, Chatham above the calendar aperture, subsidiary seconds below 12, pierced brass hands, foliate engraved spandrels, strike/silent ring in the arch flanked by engraved urns, the four pillar rack striking movement with ancor escapement
