Title with woodcut arms of the dedicatee, Cardinal Antoniotto Gentile Pallavicini, printers device on final leaf, 4 full-page woodcuts within ornamental borders of the Creation, Expulsion, Death of Abel, and Tower of Babel, woodcut initials, first leaf with decorated borders, 88 woodcut illustrations of city views in Europe and the Middle East, including larger views of Verona, Genoa, Rome, Milan and Venice, with final blank (small printing flaw on c1 verso). Contemporary Italian brown morocco over pasteboard, panelled covers decorated in blind with large arabesque tool, blue edges (edges and joints lightly rubbed, spine neatly restored at head and foot, lacking ties). Provenance: Bishop Franciscus Lambertus (16th century inscription on lower margin Aa2).

A fine copy of the sixth illustrated edition in a contemporary binding, probably Milanese. Adams F-749; Sander 921; Sabin 25084; cf Mortimer/Harvard Italian 195 (fifth edition). The popular chronicle Supplementum Chronicarum was first published in 1483, and was used by Schedel as the model for the Nuremberg Chronicle. The chronicle records the invention of printing in 1458, and includes a long account of Columbus's discovery of America.
