Lot Essay

The tiger was said to have been given to King Louis Philippe by the Sultan of Morocco (see Delacroix's letter to Pierret from Morocco, 2 April, 1832)

We are grateful to Professor Lee Johnson for confirming the authenticity of this Lot, on the basis of a photograph.
