Contemporary spinkled calf, flat spines elaborately gilt with red and dark green morocco lettering pieces, narrow floral garland round sides with large fleuron cornerpieces, at centre a large oval inlay of tree calf surrounded by a gilt bow-pattern border, inner gilt dentelle, yellow edges (a few covers very slightly marked, head of 2 spines lightly rubbed). Provenance: Contemporary purchase inscription of D. Stacy, 'Price #10.10.0. Binding #¨5.5.0.'. Printing and the Mind of Man 171 (describing the first edition of 1728).
