FIRST ENGLISH EDITION, published in "The Children's Library" series. The story was first serialized in the Roman children's magazine, Giornale per i Bambini (1881-83), and was first published in book form by Felice Paggi in Florence (1883). The English sheets were also issued in America, with a new title-page under Cassell's New York imprint. Osborne p. 1007.
