BURGUNDY OF THE MOST SUPREME QUALITY Removed from the town house of an old banking family in New York and now lying at Christie's We have on one previous occasion sold old wines from this cellar and they were all in remarkable condition thanks to a steady cool temperature. The correct humidity accounts for the slight damp-induced bin-soiling of the labels. Also labels on Burgundy bottles tend to get damaged when binned and unbinned. Only a small amount of wine was made from the old wines of the Romanée-Conti vineyard and the stock on offer of the great 1937 vintage is virtually unprecedented on the London market All the wines were purchased from Bellows & Co, regarded in its day as the leading "carriage trade" wine merchants, the Berry Bros. of New York, and the Bellows slip label is on each of the bottles
