cover 1852 (27 Mar) E. from Carcoar to "M. Perston Junr, Porcupine Inn Post Office, Port Philip Diggins", bearing 1d. Plate I [1] double print, 1d. Plate II [7] and 3d. on laid paper [10] all cancelled "10", the 1d. Plate I and 3d. tied by framed "ADVERTISED/AND/UNCLAIMED" in red and showing, on reverse, oval d.s. of Carcoar, Bathurst, Campbelltown, Yass, Melbourne and Mount Alexander. Believed to be the earliest stamped cover from Carcoar. A remarkable and almost certainly unique franking of outstanding quality. Photo in colour on front cover.
