Whichelo was chiefly a marine painter who first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1810. His subjects are usually views of Surrey and the New Forest; however, he also visited the Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
Whichelo's studio sale was held at Christie's London on 10 April 1866.
