Lot Essay

These hall stools have Grecian Ionic-scrolled seats, and display a talbot crest. Their palm-framed medallions tied to triumphal-arched feet derive from a stool pattern illustrated in Thomas Hope's Household Furniture and Interior Decoration, London, 1807 (pl. 12).
