A study for the head of the gesticulating Apostle in the Supper at Emmaus at Grenoble, L. Mortari, Bernardo Strozzi, Rome, 1966, no.310, illustrated. Mortari lists six other versions and dates the painting in Strozzi's Genoese period, before his departure for Venice in 1630. A study of the other Apostle, also from the Sagredo-Borghese collection, is at Edinburgh, K. Andrews, National Gallery of Scotland, Catalogue of Italian Drawings, Cambridge, 1968, I, p.116, II, fig.782
