Alastair Laing has kindly confirmed the attribution. The black chalk counterproof is from a sheet formerly in the Masson collection and now in The Art Institute of Chicago. Boucher subsequently reworked the drawing in pen and ink, perhaps with the intention of producing a print or simply as an autonomous study. Alastair Laing tentatively suggests a date of the late 1740s or early 1750s
