Lot Essay

Guillaume Werniers (d.1738).
A set of nine Lille Teniers tapestries by G. Werniers, without borders, was in the collection of Basil Dighton. This included another example of this scene which is illustrated in H. C. Marillier, A Handbook to the Teniers Tapestries, London, 1932, plate 52 (b).
