The date on the present picture is given as 1643 in the 1936 sale catalogue and by Dr. Beck, loc. cit., 1973, whose description follows the entry and illustration in the 1936 sale catalogue. He has recently confirmed the attribution from a transparency.
Dr. Beck records two copies on canvas, one of similar size, with a monogram and date 1645, listed by C. Hofstede de Groot, A Catalogue Raisonné, etc., VIII, 1927, p.241, no.975, and last recorded with Trotti and Co. in Paris, the other, smaller, last recorded in a sale in Cologne in 1904.
The manor house is also shown, with variations, in a picture signed by Wouter Knyff which was with Rob Kattenburg in 1979 (Beck, loc. cit., 1991, illustrated); this has led Dr. Beck to suggest that the view is probably not imaginary (see idem., and loc. cit., 1987)
