A Large Mokkogata Onin Tsuba
Unsigned, Momoyama Period (Late 16th/Early 17th Century)
Decorated with a band of dots [hoshi] representing stars and a circle in brass uchikaeshi mimi, with a wood box
3 5/8in. (9.2cm.), mimi 4mm.
Although the hoshi [dots] are smaller than those of the Muromachi period they tend to be uniform. The very large seppadai, allowing for a large nakago is a feature of the Momoyama period.
