Lot Essay

Kanmuri is the headdress used for official affairs of Court. Many complicated rules were made when the Emperor Suiko (592-628) decreed 12 court ranks, each with a different cap [junikai] (daitoku, shotoku, dainin, shomin, dairei, shorei, daishin shoshin, daigi, shogi, daichi and shochi). This court cap is a modification which established the norm.
