Signed Aritsune and kao, dated Tempo, juichi, koshi nenki aki (1840), late Edo period (19th century)
The oval shibuichi nanako plate decorated in takabori and iroe takazogan with sparrows and camellia, square mimi, with a wood box

Lot Essay
Aritsune was the son of Mitsunori of Kyoto. He became a student of his brother-in-law Kazatsura. Both Aritsune and Kazatsura favoured designs with the natural subjects of plants, flowers and birds.
