Descriptif du lot

Kogai have existed since the late Heian period. In the early days it was a utility item used for the hair and ears. It later became an accoutrement of the samurai as well as a work of art. The more sophisticated shapes include a sharper angle of the shoulder. The shape and carving of the warabite indicates this was made at the beginning of the later period.
